eight ¬ video
[ In the wee hours of the morning, Jamie's communicator switches on to the video feed, showing a very sleepy-looking teenager on the couch, poring over a book. (Yes, a book, that is correct.) He'd only intended to turn on the voice function, but there you go. ]
Apparently a lot of people are having trouble sleeping this... morning? I thought that I would get some reading done, but then I realised I don't actually read very often, so I had to grab the first book I could find. I'm sure it's very interesting, but the words just look all blurry to me... [ A pause, and Jamie tries to stifle a yawn. ] Still, only... twenty-something hours left, right? Perhaps we should all tell stories, or exchange some funny jokes. I would go first, but I've been told my knock-knock jokes aren't very funny.
[ You don't have to know Jamie well to be able to tell that the nightmares have shaken him-- it's pretty obvious from the look on his face, barely concealed with a wobbly smile. Seeing other people post on the Network hadn't helped, really. ] ... I would recommend coffee, though. Except-- only if you can actually make coffee, because when I tried, it turned out like sludge. But there's still caffeine in it somewhere, hopefully, and sludge is better than exhaustion!
[ ooc: backdated to about... 3am of the 26th? some early morning hour, anyway. ]

Jamie follows! Well, he stops at the doorway because he figures that being sleep-deprived only makes him more dangerous in the kitchen. He pauses, a little hesitant, wondering if he should say anything. He hates being afraid of closing his eyes, but... but Alan should understand, right? Since...] ... I didn't think any nightmares could be as bad as-- as having a second tier mark. But...
[ He feels silly even saying it-- of course this is nowhere near as bad. It's just a curse. So he plasters his wobbly smile back on to his face. ] But it's only a day! I just need coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.

Well—I can help with the caffeine. But the curses do get pretty bad. Do you remember what they're about? Or is it just a feeling?

[ Jamie frowns at Alan's question. He remembers every moment of his nightmares, actually, but... well. ] Bits and pieces. It's mostly dying or being maimed horribly, or having a third tier mark again... [ ... or being a magician part of a Circle, sacrificing people to demons for power. That whole thing. Jamie bites his tongue at that, though. ]
It wouldn't be so bad, maybe, if it only happened while I was deeply asleep. Even if I close my eyes for five seconds or so... [ He shivers. ]

You were right—one day isn't that long. We'll have to find you something to focus on, that's all.

[ Haha... ha... ] ... I could always try to focus on TV. Not that TV requires very much focus beyond staring at all the moving pictures.
[ Who needs education when you can watch TV? ]

So maybe you can do something else in a few hours.
